Choose the right level of everyday care

Select the level of coverage for all benefits under extended health. Your chosen levels apply to everyone on your plan.

Tips for choosing your coverage level
  • What do you or your family use most today? Consider the services you use regularly, like massage, physiotherapy or vision.
  • What's ahead? Plan for any upcoming health or lifestyle changes for you or your family.
  • How often do you go? If you see certain providers often, a higher level of coverage may make sense.

We recommend starting with the lowest level that fits your needs today. You'll have the flexibility to increase your levels anytime, effective the 1st of the next month, and the option to downgrade after 24 months.

Add dental coverage if you need it

Select the level of coverage for optional dental or opt out if you don’t need it. Your chosen levels apply to everyone on your plan.

Tips for choosing your coverage level
  • What services does your family need?
    • If you typically go for routine checkups, once or twice a year, consider starting with Basic or Enhanced.
    • If you anticipate fillings, extractions, root canals or dentures in the next year or 2, consider a higher level of coverage to plan ahead, especially with the waiting periods.
  • Consider the annual maximum limits: Each level has a yearly maximum payout and it may increase after your first year with some levels.
  • Know the waiting periods. Basic and preventive dental benefits have a short initial waiting period before coverage begins. Other dental services may have longer waiting periods.
  • Dental claims are paid according to the Alberta Blue Cross® Individual Health Plan Usual and Customary Dental Fee List. This means coverage is based on standard fees for common procedures. Learn more about dental benefits and ways to reduce your costs.

We recommend starting with the lowest level that fits your needs today. You'll have the flexibility to increase your levels anytime, effective the 1st of the next month, and the option to downgrade after 24 months.

Add drug coverage if you need it

Select the level of coverage for optional prescription drugs. Your chosen levels apply to everyone on your plan.

Tips for choosing your coverage level
  • Think about the prescriptions you and your family use regularly. Consider whether you may need higher-cost or ongoing medications.
  • Consider the annual maximum limits at each level. Higher levels have higher annual maximums.
  • Know the waiting periods.Prescription drug benefits have a short 3-month waiting period before coverage begins.
  • Do you have high existing prescription drug costs? You may be eligible for additional coverage. Reach out through our contact form or call us at 1-800-394-1965 to discuss options.

We recommend starting with the lowest level that fits your needs today. You'll have the flexibility to increase your levels anytime, effective the 1st of the next month, and the option to downgrade after 24 months.
