COVID-19 immunization program

Currently, over 1,300 pharmacies across the province are providing COVID-19 immunizations with either Pfizer, Moderna or AstraZeneca vaccines.

Who is eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine through a pharmacy?

Pharmacies with Pfizer and Moderna vaccine are immunizing Albertans who are part of Phase 2B and 2C. Albertans who are part of Phase 1B and 2A remain eligible.

Pharmacies with AstraZeneca vaccine are immunizing Albertans 40 years of age and older (born in 1981 or earlier).

Albertans eligible for Phase 1B include:

  • Individuals 75 years of age and older (born in 1946 or earlier)

Albertans eligible for Phase 2A include:

  • Individuals 65 to 74 years of age (born between 1956 and 1947)
  • First Nations, Metis and Inuit peoples 50 years of age and older (born in 1971 or earlier)
  • Staff and senior residents of licensed supportive living facilities not previously eligible

Albertans eligible for Phase 2B include:

  • ndividuals 16 to 64 years of age (born between 2005 and 1957) with high-risk health conditions including cancer patients, transplant recipients and individuals with disabilities, dementia and other conditions that put them at higher risk of severe outcomes from COVID-19. More specific information on each underlying health condition, including examples, is available on the Government of Alberta website.

    Note: the Moderna vaccine is only approved for individuals 18 years of age and older. Individuals who are 16 or 17 should contact a pharmacy with the Pfizer vaccine.

Albertans eligible for Phase 2C include:

  • Health care workers and their affiliated staff working in patient care facilities or providing direct patient care in the community.
  • Residents and staff at shelters and provincial correctional facilities.

Where can I get the vaccine?

Below is a list of participating pharmacies.

To ensure fair access to all Albertans needing immunization and to prevent unnecessary wastage of vaccine doses, please only book your appointment at ONE location. DO NOT book appointments at multiple sites.

For the AstraZeneca vaccine, some pharmacies are allowing walk-in patients without an appointment.

If I get the COVID-19 vaccination will it impact my life insurance policy or benefit coverage?

COVID-19 vaccinations are approved by Health Canada and receiving the vaccine will not affect your individual or workplace life or health insurance benefits, or your ability to apply for future coverage.
