Medical evacuation or air ambulance services will be covered if:
- the treatment is medically necessary
- ordered by the attending physician or travel assistance provider, and approved by your government health plan provider or Alberta Blue Cross®
It covers costs for travel between hospitals or hospital admission into your Canadian province or territory of residence. If the air ambulance benefit is used, the unused portion of your air ticket must be surrendered to us.
If the attending physician or travel assistance service provider specifies in writing that you need to return to Canada for immediate treatment, we will reimburse you for the purchase of one-way economy airfare on a commercial flight.
You can extend both single-trip and multi-trip plans. Give us a call at 1-800-394-1965 and we can help. Learn more about travel insurance coverage options.
