There is no single standard for dental services billing in Alberta today. That means dental offices can, and do, charge varying prices for dental services—a situation that can lead to considerable confusion for plan sponsors and members. To respond to the need for consistency and fairness, we have developed the Alberta Blue Cross Dental Schedule® to provide a fair and consistent basis for payment of dental claims.
Well-researched, credible and reasonable
The Alberta Blue Cross Dental Schedule® is reviewed every year and takes into account the costs associated with operating a dental practice. All Alberta dental offices have a copy of the Dental Schedule for their reference and continue to bill Alberta Blue Cross® directly for services. Decisions about treatment remain between the employee and their dentist.
