Unless otherwise stated, these Terms of Use apply to your usage of this web site (referred to below as the "Site"). By accessing the Site you, the web site user, acknowledge you have read, understood and agree to these Terms of Use.

Prohibited Uses

Because the Site was created to be informative, we will permit you to download or photocopy Content displayed on the Site, including forms and benefit booklets, for your own non-commercial personal use. Any Content extracted from the site must prominently display copyright and other proprietary notices.
  • Use the Site other than for its intended purpose.

The restrictions set out in these Terms of Use shall not apply to the limited extent the restrictions are prohibited by applicable law.

Except as described in these Terms of Use or as specifically agreed to by you, we will only use the personally identifiable or personal health information we gather from you on the Site for the purposes of determining eligibility for coverage and verifying, assessing and paying claims.

Except as described in these Terms of Use or as specifically agreed to by you, we will not disclose any personally identifiable or personal health information we gather from you on the Site. The personal information gathered by us on the Site may be disclosed/exchanged between Alberta Blue Cross® and a licensed physician and/or health services provider/professional/practitioner, institution or insurer, and only for the purposes stated on the Site. Further, we may release personally identifiable or personal health information to third parties to comply with valid legal requirements such as a law, regulation, search warrant, subpoena or court order. In the event that we are legally compelled to disclose your personally identifiable or personal health information to a third party, we will attempt to notify you unless doing so would violate the law or court order.

Cookies

The Site, like most web sites, uses cookies to enable access and enhance security. These cookies do not provide us with personalized information, do not link non-personal information from cookies to personally identifiable information without your permission, and do not enable us to collect or store personal health information about you. Governing Laws

The Site, the Content and these Terms of Use will be governed by the laws of the Province of Alberta, Canada, without regard to its conflicts of law provisions and shall be treated in all respects as though it were an Alberta contract and the Courts of Alberta will have exclusive jurisdiction. You hereby irrevocably consent and submit to the personal jurisdiction of said courts for all such purposes.

English Language

Waiver

You agree at all times to indemnify, defend and hold harmless Alberta Blue Cross®, its agents, licensors, suppliers, affiliates and their respective directors and employees from and against all actions, proceedings, costs, claims, damages, demands, liabilities and expenses whatsoever (including legal and other professional fees and disbursements) sustained, incurred or paid by Alberta Blue Cross® directly or indirectly in respect of your violation of these Terms of Use.

Amendments

We reserve the right, in our discretion, to amend or replace these Terms of Use at any time by notice to you. We will notify you of a change by posting a notice on the Site. Your use of the Site after we post the notice means that you accept the Terms of Use, as amended. If you do not agree to an amendment to these Terms of Use, you must immediately stop using this Site.
